Pokhara : Recentfusion.com editor-in-chief Mr. Rup Narayan Dhakal has been honored with Gajendra Bhandari Creative National Journalism Award 2074 in Pokhara on Firday. Federation of Nepali Journalists central committee chairman Govinda Acharya felicitated Dhakal with Rs 25,000 cheque, appreciation letter and dosalla in a formal ceremony organized by FNJ Kaski Chapter which is also a manager of this award.
The award was established by late journalist Gajendra Bhandari’s wife Sarswati Bhandari and her sons- Dr. Sandeep and Santosh Bhandari. Dhakal who is also a correspondent of English national daily- The Himalayan Times had started his journalism career some 21-year ago. Earlier, Dhakal contributed then Gagan weekly, Janamat Daily, Pokharapatra Daily, Samadhan Daily, Rajdhani Daily, Annapurna Post Daily and an English website ohmynews international updated from South Korea.
Dhakal is a former councilor of FNJ, general member of Kaski chapter of this organization as well as Federation of Independent Journalists. Permanent resident of Pokhara – 32, Kaski, he is Master Degree in Economics. He had already received the reporting and editing trainings from Nepal Press Institute, PCCI, HWK Germany and other organizations. Addressing the ceremony, FNJ chairman Acharya expressed his dissatisfaction over some of the points of recently imposed criminal code and civil code as well as a bill registered in house and urged the government to correct them as per the constitution of Nepal.
Senior journalists- Krishna Prasad Bastola, Badri Binod Prateek, other journalists Ram Krishna Gnwali, Tribhuban Paudel, Madhav Baral, Ghanshyam Pandey, Shiromoni Baral, late Bhandari’s spouse Sarswati, Gandaki Province assembly member Ms Mina Gurung and civil rights activist Bishnu Baral also expressed their views during the ceremony chaired by FNJ Kaski president Dipendra Shrestha.
