By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—Annapurna Sanctuary Tourism Committee is to organize a Annapurna Marathon Championship on June 3rd which is a first successful summit day of Mt. Annapurna.
According to Annapurna Sanctuary Tourism Festival 2074 and championship coordinator Lalit Gurung, the event will take place from Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) to Ghandruk village (2000m). The technical team has already examined the route and the track clearance has already been carried out. The first Annapurna Marathon was held on 2011.
Ex-athlete Forum former Chairman Khadga Bahadur Ranabhat informed that Around 55 athletes would take part in the championship. Winner would get Rs 1 lakh. Runner up would get Rs 70,000 and 2nd runner up would receive Rs 50,000, informed tourism entrepreneur from Ghandruk Kisham Gurung. The event is a final part of the Annapurna Sanctuary Tourism Festival 2074.
