Potato festival kicks off in Pokhara

Pokhara—The ninth Hemja Potato Festival 2074 kicked off in Pokhara on Thursday in Pokhara. Province 4 Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung inaugurated the festival jointly organized by Bishnupaduka Club Hemja (BCH) and Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Project Management Unit. The festival ends on April 13.

The festival aims to promote Hemja as an agriculture zone. Similarly, direct transaction of potatoes between farmer and customer is also the motive of the festival. Exhibition of potatoes and vegetables, Potato Mountain, potato dishes, cultural shows, comedians show, Japanese oranges, mushrooms, coffee, seeds and exhibition of agricultural related equipment are the major attractions of the festival, informed festival coordinator Subin Shresta.

Gandaki Development Bank CEO Resham Bahadur Thapa, Nepal Bank Limited Bagar branch Manager Dilip Thapa and Woman Urban Coordination Committee President Pabitra Gurung expressed their remarks during the opening ceremony chaired by BCH chairman Ramesh Karki.
