By Rup Narayan Dhakal–Pokhara—Jack Tamang has been reelected as a chairman of Baidam Tamang Society (BTS) in Pokhara on Saturday. The sixth Annual General Meeting and fourth convention selected Tamang as a head of the society. Tamang is the senior tourism entrepreneur of Pokhara and is also one of the owners of most happening Busy Bee Café of Pokhara.
The convention also elcted Sarswati Tamang in vice chairperson, Dolma Lama in secretary, Jayanti Moktan in treasurer, Indrasagar Tamang (Sukra) and Laxman Tamang in joint secretary. Similarly, Samar Bahadur Tamang was elected in joint treasurer. Ram Bahadur Tamang, Rajani Lama, Bam Bahadur Tamang, Tek Bahadur Tamang, Padme Lama and Khadga Lama were elected in the member of the executive committee.
Speaking in the AGM, Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City ward 13 chairman Darshan Lama praised the BTS that the society built a statue of Amithav Buddha which represents the culture of Tamang society and Buddhist devotees. He also said that the statue is one of the tourist products and attractions of Pokhara.
Treasurer Jayanti Moktan appealed all her members to make Miss Tamang beauty pageant a grand success. BTS has been organizing that contest on the occasion of Sonal Lhosar ever year for years. She also vowed to invest collected fund for the development and conservation of statue. BTS Women Group Chairperson Kanchhi Tamang expressed her happiness that her society has done progress and very good jobs in a short period of time.
Newly elected chairman Jack Tamang thanked all the persons who supported and donated funds to construct the statue near Baidam. Saying that the BTS has been working for the conservation of Tamang values, culture and society, Tamang said that the society has done very important task in the period of recent six years of period. Prem Lama, Sonika Lama and secretary Dolma Lama also expressed their views during the program.
