Pokhara—Touristic town Pokhara is all set to celebrate New Year 2074 with blissful bang. In this connection, Western Regional Hotel Association (WRHA) Pokhara has commenced 14th Fewa New Year Festival 2074 here at Komagane Park of this Lake City today.
Generally, Nepali have been celebrating Gregorian Calendar New Year every year for years but since 14 years, WRHA Pokhara has begun to celebrate even Nepali New Year of Bikram Sambat calendar. With long rally and tableaus, Fewa festival was started in the bank o f Lake Fewa.
The festival undergoes till 15th of April. The rally was begun from Khahare Chok of Lakeside and reached 3 km south at Komagane Park where Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) Senior Vice President Srijana Rana inaugurated the festival. According to WRHA Pokhara Chairman and festival Coordinator Bikal Tulachan, the festival aims to conserve Nepali culture and Lake Fewa. Promotion of domestic and International tourism also are the aims of the festival.
The festival mainly focuses tourism, food and culture. There are all total 60 stalls including 15 of foods’ in the festival. Tourist race, boat race, solo dance competition, folk duet songs, children park, comedy shows, musical concert and New Year celebration are some of the attractions of the festival, informed WRHA Pokhara General Secretary Ganesh Raj Pahari.
Nepal Magar Sangh, Newa Kacha Khal Baidam and Kirat Sewa Samaj became first, second and third respectively in tableau performing competition that took part total of 26 teams. Meanwhile, Bangladi, Khahare and Chhetri Mahila became first, second and third respectively in Mothers’ group rally competition.
WRHA Pokhara immediate past president Bharat Raj Parajuli, National Tourism Council member Basu Dev Tripathi, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Pokhara in-charge Uday Bdr Bhattarai, PTRC coordinator Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai, PCCI Chairman Bishwo Shankar Palikhe, FNJ Kaski Chairman Dipendra Shrestha, Ward Civic Forum coordination Committee coordinator Ms Bishnu Kc and WRHA Pokhara first vice president Laxman Subedi wished for the success of the festival that is being promoted by NTB and sponsored by Gorkha Brewery.
