President Mukherjee congratulates Nepal for constitution promulgation

Recentfusion.com—Kathmandu: Indian President Pranab Mukherjee congratulated Nepal for promulgating new constitution through legislative parliament, in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

President Mukherjee who has arrived Nepal on his three day state visit called on his counterpart Bidhya Devi Bhandari in Shital Niwas and congratulated Nepali people for being success to meet their goal of new constitution. According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal, The duo discussed Nepal-India relation and mutual interests.

Indian President is visiting Nepal first time after 18 years and former President KR Narayan had visited Nepal in May 1998. President Bhandari, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal including otheres received the Indian president in Tribhuvan International Airport. He was offered a guard of honour with 21-gun salute.

President Bhandari hosted a state banquet at Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza and Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae hosted a reception in honour of President Mukherjee at his Lainchaur residence in honour of President Mukherjee.

Receiving the post of honorary doctor from Kathmandu Metropolitan City and visit of Pashupati Temple are included in his schedule for today. Later, he will address a seminar on Nepal-India relations jointly organised by the Indian foundation Neeti Prathisthan Nepal and Nepal Centre for Contemporary Studies.

Tomorrow, on Friday he will visit Janakpur and offer Puja at Janaki Temple and attend a civic reception program before flying to touristy town Pokhara to address ex-Indian soldiers at Pension Paying Office Rambazaar.
